Apostolic Church Beliefs

See how we view God, Jesus, the Bible, man, and many significant aspects of our faith. Firmly rooted in scripture, the beliefs guide our decisions as a church.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is God's Word to all people, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, speaking to us with authority and without error, and is completely relevant to our daily lives as it embodies truth without any mixture of error.

One God

We believe there is one God who has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity as one substance in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—who, while serving different functions, each possess equal power and authority.

The Father

We believe that God is our Father: He is great—all-powerful, all-knowing, full of love, ever-present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It is in Him that we live, move, and exist, and we affirm that God is good, loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.

The Son

We believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ the Son, who is completely human and completely God, and in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death for us on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension to the Father, and personal, physical return to rule the earth in power and love; He is the only plan for reconciling people who are far from God back into a right relationship with Him, having lived a perfect life to satisfy God’s demands for perfection and defeated death in His resurrection so that we can have life.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit lives in us as believers, assuring us of our relationship with Christ, bringing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control into our lives, guiding us into all truth, exalting Christ, and convicting us of sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment; He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts—including speaking in tongues, prophesying, and healing—and makes us more like Christ.

Man

We believe that man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation, created to have fellowship with God but separated from that relationship through sinful disobedience; as a result, all mankind is lost in sin and cannot attain a right relationship with God through their own efforts, needing to turn from sin and trust personally in the Savior, Jesus Christ, and be born anew by the Holy Spirit's power into God's family, recognizing that every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and love.

Salvation

We believe that all mankind is lost in sin and needs to turn from it and trust personally in the Savior, Jesus Christ, as the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin provided by His shed blood on the cross; salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin, and it is a gift from God that cannot be earned through our own efforts, requiring all to be born anew by the Holy Spirit's power into God's family.

Eternity

We believe in the resurrection of every person, who was created to exist forever, resulting in either eternal life for the believer in union with God through forgiveness and salvation or eternal judgment for the lost, who will be eternally separated from God by sin; to be eternally separated from God is Hell, while to be eternally in union with Him is Heaven, both of which are places of eternal existence.

The Church

We believe in unity for all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the head of His body, the Church, and seek community together to become more like Him in every way; the Church is a community of believers unified through faith in Christ, committed to His teachings and obeying all of His commands, working together in love and unity to bring the gospel to the world and glorify Christ, as we are called to love Him and one another, enabled to do so only as His life flows through us.

The Marriage

We believe the Scriptures teach that marriage is the covenanting together of one man and one woman in a union to the exclusion of all others. This union is established by an authorized ceremony under God. Marriage is a unique reflection of God’s faithful love for all humankind. The relationship of husband and wife, as family, reflects the covenanting self-giving love between Christ and His Bride, the Church. The pledge of mutual faithfulness is not tentative or conditional. The permanent nature of the marriage bond gives security and promotes the development of a trusting relationship. The Church has a responsibility to care for, nurture and prayerfully support the marriage relationship and the children of the union.
